What it took to get here...
There is a lot that goes into getting a book published. From the initial "idea" for a book all the way to getting it printed and published. I wrote the book because books about acceptance and inclusion were missing when I was raising my daughters. I persevered through the challenges of getting the book published because I was inspired by the work my daughters do in their careers and as mothers to focus on those same issues. This project involved a lot of people, including those that are mentioned in the book (although they are all shared with no names). This journey was taken with the support of my family and friends who provided me with encouragement, feedback, stories, donations of time and money and, most of all, love. Below, see some of our fundraising efforts and additional discussions of why this book matters! |

Message From the Author
"The book is about my family - our family - and how diverse it is. How racially, culturally, ethnically wonderful it is; how rich our lives are because of the differences of so many of the members of our family. It's something that I thought other people would want to know about in a way to appreciate their own differences in their lives; their own differences in the people that they live with, they love, they worship with. It's something that is growing for us in our country: the differences in everybody coming together. And appreciating those differences is something that I think is very important; it is something that we cherish and is something that I think you will cherish more as you read this book." |
