​Below is a link to some resources that will help teachers in Middle or Elementary School use If You Looked At Me... in the classroom.  These resources are a guide and are meant to be adapted by the educator to fit the grade level, learning styles and needs of the students.

Navigating the Lesson Plan 

​The lesson plan and it's resources can be found in one Google Sheets document.  If you are adept at Google Sheets and Docs, you should be able to navigate your way around this document.  However, there are a lot of information and resources linked in this one file.  To help you navigate the resources, please see below.
Lesson Plan Template
  1. The lesson plan template follows the Understanding by Design structure.
  2. This is a general outline that includes introducing the themes, reading the book and completing a project.
  3. This lesson plan is intended to be modified and adjusted by the educator to better fit the grade level, learning style and needs of the class.
Group Activities​
  1. This tab highlights 3 Group Activities to help introduce students to the themes addressed in the book.
  2. Each activity includes Discussion Questions and ESL (second language learners) Modifications.
  3. There are links included for any materials required.
  4. There are links included for additional/alternate ideas and activities.
  5. These activities are intended to be modified for grade level, learning style and the needs of the students.
Read Through Questions
  1. These questions are designed around Costa's Levels of Questions.  (Additional information regarding Costa's Levels of Questions can be found here.
  2. These questions can and should be modified to better suit the grade level, learning style, and needs of the students.
Individual Projects
  1. This tab highlights 3 Individual Projects to help students reflect on and share their learning regarding the books' themes.
  2. Each project includes suggested modifications, suggestions for advances students and modifications for ESL (second language learners).
  3. There are links included for any materials required.
  4. There are links included for additional/alternate ideas and activities.
  5. These projects are intended to be modified for grade level, learning style and the needs of the students.
Sample Rubrics
  1. This tab includes 3 different sample rubrics that can be used for the included individual projects.
  2. The rubrics are basic and can be used for peer review as well.
  3. These rubrics are intended to be modified for grade level, learning style and the needs of the students.
